SF animated movie “AKIRA” will be remastered in 4K, and release on ULTRA HD Blu-ray&Blu-ray on July 23.
“AKIRA” is an animated film based on the same-titled comic, which was written by Otomo Katsuhiro, and was serialized in Kodansha’s ‘Young Magazine’ from 1982 to 1990. The film was directed by Otomo-san and released in 1988. It was shown in the U.S, Europe, and Asia, and it still attracts a lot of fans as an anime that represents Japan.
These 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray vividly reproduced the 35mm master positive film through 4K scan and 4K remaster.
Moreover, 5.1ch audio by Yamashiro Shoji as music director was restored into completely new audio that was enhanced by 192kHz.
‘”AKIRA” 4K REMASTER EDITION / ULTRA HD Blu-ray & Blu-ray’ is priced at 5,800 JPY (excl. tax), and will be released on July 23.
