Nov. 8 is the day of clear skin.

It was taken from a play on words ‘Ii(11) Oha(8)da’.** Everyone should long for clear skin.
**In Japanese, 1 = ichi, 8=hachi, good/great = Ii, skin = hada

There are many anime characters with clear skin. They make it a habit to apply a facial treatment mask before going to bed, put a high quality bath salt in a bath, work out routinely, and have a well-balanced diet… Who do you think is the best character with clear skin?

Here at Anime!Anime!, we conducted a readers’ survey titled, ‘Who comes to mind when it comes to a character with clear skin?’. The survey was conducted from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, and we received 120 answers.
The male-to-female ratio was about 60% to 40%, which means that the male readers accounted for a large percentage. About 60% of the readers were minors, 20% were in their twenties, which means that the young readers accounted for a large percentage.

■The characters with a high sense of beauty gathered together!
1st place
1st place went to Yazawa Nico in “Love Live!”.

Nico is a member of μ’s. Since the episode of the camp, her clear skin has become her feature. Some comments like, ‘I was surprised to see her wearing cucumber slices as facial mask before sleep!’, have arrived. An idle with a high sense of beauty has won 1st place.

2nd place
Alvida in “One Piece” and Kagura in “Gintama” shared 2nd place. Sube Sube no Mi also grants her the ability to harmlessly slide virtually any physical attack off her skin as well as to become more beautiful. The comments were like, ‘When she first appeared, she was a tough looking woman, but she has become beautiful.’

Kagura is a member of the Yorozuya Gin-chan, and a surviver of Yato Tribe. The Yato’s skin is highly sensitive to sunlight, so Kagura carries an umbrella at all times. She uses a Japanese-style umbrella, and has fair skin, which leaves an impression.

‘He uses Ruri-iro no Kujaku, whose manifested spirit take the form of a light-skinned man. He looks very nice with it as he has a high sense of beauty!’
Baka (Tanaka Nozomi) “Wasteful Days of High School Girls”
‘The episode that her skin gets better while she does sleep-learning for an exam is very humorous.’

Vermouth “Detective Conan”
‘She is gorgeous! She is also a Hollywood actress, so she must be conscious about beauty. Her beauty is one of the factors that make her, her age is unknown, more and more mysterious.’
Bihada Sara “Bihada Ichizoku”
‘To obtain beautiful skin, she lives a secluded life, and fights for some reason. The story is full of comical episodes. ‘
Some readers voted for her to be in a a short anime of skin care products.

The result shows that the characters, who are conscious about skin care, even though some of them are somewhat narcissistic, got higher ranks as they have a high sense of beauty.
