Ootsuka Yasuo, the great animator who is famous as the “the greatest animator when designing vehicle”, will be released the art book this time. He amazed the audience with car race scene of !The Castle of Cagliostro”, and this book will guide you to the origin of Ootsuka himself.
Ootsuka started to study illustration when he had looked at a locomotive in his town during World War II.
His sharp eyes had created multiple pictures with a feeling of stir, and lead the animation industry for a long time. He contributed to the creation of “Comical Mini 4WD” of Tamiya, by using his abundant knowledge of cars when creating the sample product.
In this book titled “Ootsuka Yasuo Art Book: 'Lupin the Third', Cars and Trains”, the history of Otosuka's design of mechanical world through these 4 chapters: “'Lupin the Third' and Mechanic”, “Military Vehicle”, “Modeler Ootsuka Yasuo”, and “A Mechanical Geek Ootsuka Yasuo”.
Moreover, the authorities of the animation industry, including Oshii Mamoru, Katabuchi Sunao, Sadamoto Yoshiyuki, Suzuki Toshio, Tanaka Atsuko and Yasuhiko Yoshikazu, donated the autograph card with their designs to the book. The book also contains the background story for “TV Series 'Lupin the Third' PART 1” and the messages from Ootsuka's friends.
This reviewed the accomplishments of Ootsuka, who has been leading the industry with wonderful designs as the authority of trains and military vehicles, a modeler and an animator.
