Which of the Sanrio characters are the most trending this year!? Let's see the interim results!

The interim top 10 rankings of “Sanrio Character Awards 2020” have been announced. The dog characters dominated the top 3, beating out the mascot character Hello Kitty, with Cinnamoroll in 1st place, Pompompurin in 2nd place, and Pochakko in 3rd place.

The interim results of the “Sanrio Character Awards 2020” that were released this time are based on a poll held on the web from 10:00 a.m. on Apr. 10 to 11:59 p.m. on May 7, voting postcards from the Ichigo Shimbun that arrived by Apr. 30, and votes taken from Sanrio Online Shop until 9:59 p.m. on May 1.

The interim top 1 ranking is unchanged from the preliminary results, with Cinnamoroll (2nd place last year) aiming at the 1st place for the third time after two years. Pompompurin (3rd last year) and Pochakko (5th last year), who came in 2nd and 3rd places respectively, have maintained their rankings for about a month since the preliminary report was released. Expectations are high for the success of the dog characters this year.

On the other hand, YOSHIKITTY (8th last year), which was out of the TOP 10 at the time of the preliminary announcement, ranked in the interim 5th place. We can't take our eyes off of its amazing catch-up.
Also, last year's champion, Hello Kitty, is currently in 7th place. Where will the veteran and world-famous character be placed this year?
There is no big difference in the number of votes received for each character, so it is hard to predict what will be the final results.

The poll for the “Sanrio Character Awards 2020” will close on May 25, and the final results will be announced on Jun. 9 at 11 a.m. Before that, Sanrio shops across Japan will be selling goods related to the “Sanrio Character Awards”, and also the second half of the fighting contest will be enlivened up by the distribution of videos of each character, shows on the TBS Radio's “Haraichi no Turn!”, and more.

1st Place, Cinnamoroll

Thank you so much for all the support! I'm always touched by your energy.
I'm practicing dancing and singing at home and growing vegetables in my garden.
I'm looking forward to seeing you again.

2nd Place, Pompompurin

Thanks for your support. I feel sad now because we can't meet each other, but your support gives me great energy!
I'm eating snacks, taking my naps which I like so much, and getting bigger until I will see all of you again! It's gonna be awesome! Thank you for your continued support.

3rd Place, Pochakko

Thanks for your support, everyone! I feel sad now since we can't meet each other, but I'm looking forward to seeing you again with a smile on our faces. I'm being careful not to get all chubby from eating too much banana ice creams. I hope to receive your support in the second half as well.
