On Apr. 10, 2020, it was announced that the voice actress Yamashita Mami, known for playing the roles of Margay in the anime “Kemono Friends”, Kujou Ume in the game “Tokyo 7th Sisters”, and others, has tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Currently, she has no symptoms such as cough or fever, and the talent agency Aoni Production, which the voice actress is affiliated with, has revealed that “she is under medical treatment at home”. Yamashita has also shared her thoughts on Twitter, “I can't stop thinking that maybe I have been infected by someone who was asymptomatic during the incubation period. I strongly hope that you will not infect and won't be infected”.
On the official website, Aoni Production has reported, “We inform that Yamashita Mami was found to be positive for the new coronavirus yesterday, Apr. 9 (Thursday), as a result of a PCR test conducted on Apr. 6 (Monday)”. The company has also added, “Currently, she has no symptoms such as cough or fever. She had an abnormal sense of taste and smell at first, but she is gradually recovering from that. Following the instructions of the Health Center, she is under medical treatment at home”.
A message about the future was also left, “Our company will continue to cooperate with the authorities and prioritize the safety of our clients, involved parties, affiliated voice actors, and employees. We will do our best to prevent the spread of the infection”.
Yamashita posted a public letter on Twitter and added, “To everyone. I sincerely apologize for the concern and trouble I have caused”. She also reported her actual conditions, “As reported by the office, on Apr. 9 I was found to be positive for the new coronavirus. Currently, I have no particular symptoms except for the abnormal sense of taste and smell. Since I noticed a change in my health conditions, I never left home”.
She continued by sharing her thoughts, “I can't stop thinking that maybe I have been infected by someone who was asymptomatic during the incubation period. I strongly hope that you will not infect and won't be infected, and that all people who have already tested positive will recover soon”.
Finally, she expressed her enthusiasm saying, “I myself will do my best to recover completely and get back to my important work as soon as possible”.
