It was announced that Eguchi Yousuke will continue his role as Saitou Hajime in “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Final” (Released date: Jul. 3, 2020) and “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Beginning” (Released date: Aug. 7, 2020). It had been 8 years since the first work, but Eguchi Yousuki had commented about his role as Saito Hajime in this work, “I believe it will become an amazing movie (laugh)”.

“Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Final” depicts the battle with the “series greatest foe”, Enishi, who is the mysterious weapon dealer that controls the underground society of China Mainland and the person who delivered weapons and troops to Shishio Makoto. Furthermore, “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Beginning” will depict the story about Kenshin “cross wound” that remain a mystery up until now.

As a commemoration to “Saitou Hajime’s birthday” on Feb. 18, it was announced that Eguchi Yousuke will continue playing as the former Shinsengumi 3rd squad leader, Saitou Hajime. Eguchi had played Saitou since the first film and participated in all the series works. Sometimes he swings his sword as Kenshin’s rival while othertimes he swings his sword as a Kenshin’s reliable partner. As Saitou is a indispensable character in “Rurouni Kenshin”, who will he point his sword at in “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Final” and “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Beginning”?

Eguchi talked about Saitou, the character he has long acted as,”It is an honor to be able to play the same role for a long time. On the other hand, I am not able to escape from this character that had slowly build up until now, so it a pity that there won’t be much freedom.”
Moreover, toward the shooting that took more than half a year, his proud confidence can be seen from this comment, “During that period, I must maintain my tense state which is difficult but once i think that all these scenes are connected, I believe it will become an amazing movie (laugh)”.

Regarding the shooting of “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Final” and “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Beginning” respectively, Eguchi replied while looking back, “I exerted a lot of effort. Since the time setting for “The Final” and “The Beginning” are totally different, I have to change the way to say the lines and also the tone of my voice.”
Followed by “The new era of Meiji from Bakumatsu, you will be able to see the change in Kenshin, Saitou and the world. I believe you will be surprised by the gap if you watch these two films one after another.” which depict the trouble of Kenshin and Saitou in those two different era.

“Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Final” and “Rurouni Kenshin Final Chapter The Beginning” will be released in theaters on Jul. 3, 2020 and Aug. 7, 2020 respectively.
