Netflix announced that they will distribute 21 Studio Ghibli masterpieces such as “LAPUTA: Castle in the Sky,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Princess Mononoke,” “Spirited Away,” and “Howl's Moving Castle” worldwide excluding Japan, the United States and Canada from Feb. to Apr. 2020. “I hope people around the world will discover the world of Studio Ghibli,” commented Studio Ghibli producer Suzuki Toshio.
The lineup on Netflix is as follows; from Feb. 1, 7 masterpieces such as “LAPUTA: Castle in the Sky”, “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Kiki's Delivery Service”, and “Porco Rosso”; from Mar. 1, 7 masterpieces such as “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” “Princess Mononoke,” “Spirited Away,” and “The Tale of the Princess Kaguya”; from Apr. 1, 7 masterpieces such as “Pom Poko,” “Whisper of the Heart,” “Howl's Moving Castle,” and “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea.” A total of 21 masterpieces will be distributed.
Excluding Japan, the United States and Canada, it will reach several countries in the world in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America, with 28 language subtitles and up to 20 language dubs.
Studio Ghibli producer Suzuki said, “In this day and age, there are many ways to deliver a movie to the audience. I listened to the fans and decided to distribute the works. I hope people around the world will discover the world of Studio Ghibli. ”
