September 17 is Matsuoka Yoshitsugu's birthday.
Matsuoka Yoshitsugu was honored at the 6th Seiyu Awards for Best New Actor. And at the 10th Seiyu Awards, he was honored for Best Lead Actor, with his skill of voicing various characters. In 2019, he also plays as the main characters from 『The Quintessential Quintuplets』 and 『Kimetsu no Yaiba』. He is also registered on the Guinness World Records for 「Most Spoken Lines in a Mobile Game」, for the game 『DanMachi: Memoria Freese』. Anime! Anime! and Matsuoka had an interview immediately after the Guinness World Records certification.
With that in mind, to celebrate Matsuoka Yoshitsugu's birthday, Anime! Anime! Held a reader survey titled "Who Is Your Favorite Character Voiced By Matsuoka Yoshitsugu?". During the survey period from September 3 to September 10, we received 687 responses.
The gender ratio is about the same. As for the age group, it is about 60% for those under 19 years old and about 25% for those in their 20s.
■『SAO』 Kirito won with a high voting gap for two consecutive years! Characters from 2019 anime are also ranked in.
In the 1st place, there is Kirito from 『Sword Art Online』. The voting rate is about 33%, making it the highest even after last year. The approval rate has also increased, and the 2nd place and below is being pushed out with a triple score.
Fans commented, "I knew Matsuoka for the first time through SAO. I was drawn into Matsuoka's voice, point of view, story, and music." and "Kirito has an absolute strength as a swordsman and a strong love for his lover Asuna, he is not an ordinary cool character." It seems that both the anime and characters are very popular among fans.
Fans also voiced their opinions about the new series 『Alicization』 like "He is also a good friend of Shimazaki Nobuaga who voices Eugeo, both in real life and in the anime and it makes me happy!" For the 2nd place, we have Hashibira Inosuke from 『Kimetsu no Yaiba』. With the total votes of 11%, this is the new 2019 anime that made it to the ranking list.
Fans voiced their opinions for Inosuke who always wears the grey boar hat, "I was very pleased because Matsuoka could skillfully show us the rough Inosuke finally meeting his friends and growing up," "Inosuke shouting 'Chototsumoushin!!' is really cool!" and "his confusion when he touched human warmth for the first time is unexpectedly cute." In the 3rd place, there is Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti from 『Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World』. With the total votes of 10%, he ranked the same as last year.
"I was surprised because he is also capable to voice a crazy villain, unlike his other cool-type characters so far," "I was overwhelmed by Matsuoka's unexpected full transformation," and "the impact is really strong! The male Voice Actor survey is usually dominated by female votes but in Matsuoka's case, both men and women gave votes for this survey equally. As a result, a wide range of roles such as the main characters of love-comedy and male idol characters made it to the ranking list.
