The news of the manga **The Island of Giant Insects** getting an anime movie adaptation was first announced in 「Crunchyroll Expo 2019」. Yurika Kubo will be assigned as an additional cast. A teaser preview and character visuals were also announced for the first time.

**『The Island of Giant Insects**was first serialized on 「Champion Cross」back in 2014. It was later then brought over to 「Manga Cross」where it achieved over 1.1 million previews within a month.
The story follows a group of teenage girls stranded on an island ruled by giant insect after their plane crashed while on their school trip.

An OVA was released bundled together with the books back in June 2019 as a first animation project. On the 30th of August, a US premiere of the OVA was held at the「Crunchyroll Expo 2019」in San Jose, California.
Tatsuya Ishiguro will take on the producer role as it was announced during the panel discussion. Finally with a surprise news, the movie is said to be released in 2020 in Japan, and a teaser preview was screened across the globe.

The teaser preview shows the terrified state the girls are in and the grotesque forms of the insects. A crueler story than the OVA can likely be expected.
In addition, Yurika Kubo will be casting Ai Inou. Visuals of the six main characters was also released.

In order to ensure the adaptation to be a success, a 「Kickstarter」crowd funding is currently being implemented. Other details will be announced on a later date.
